I put on the computer on top of each other - in layers - the faces of some women in my family. Having changed the opacity and transparency, it became evident what some old ladies of the village said, that my grandmother resembled me, that there was a more than obvious resemblance between the two. This meeting would be the basis of my work Family Studies. It was about scanning the different women in my family and seeing similarities and differences, this way I created a self-portrait that included my physical presence, but also other presences that had materialized to generate my face, i.e. the my resemblances to my female ancestors. It was like a way to learn more about who he was.
